ERC Training Program

We offer a 9 month faith-based marathon training program that will provide you with the tools and techniques you need to successfully complete a marathon or half-marathon. We have trained hundreds of runners over the last 8 years; 85% of new ERC participants have never run before. However, 97% of ERC runners who start their marathon race complete it.
We train winners like you!
Training sessions will be held on Saturday mornings beginning February 6, 2010.

Part II
Part II of the training program will focus on 7 months of Group Training Runs consisting of long runs and speed-work.
- Group long runs will always meet early on Saturdays mornings.
- Group long runs will have distances that gradually increase each month.
- Hydration stations will be provided during group long runs. Additional refreshments will be provided during extended group training runs.
- Cross-training is strongly encouraged during the week.
- Runners are expected to do 2 short runs on their own during the week to maintain momentum.
Group Training Runs will initially be held along Chicago’s Lakefront.
Social Events are also an important aspect of the Elijah Running Club program. Though each runner is encouraged to "run their own race", we believe that celebrating milestones is a great source of encouragement. Our experience has shown that accountability amongst runners is key to empowering them to reach their goals.
Social events like picnics, celebration dinners, or casual get-togethers provide the perfect backdrop for runners to relax and get acquainted with fellow teammates. The sharing of training challenges and triumphs in a relaxed atmosphere creates a bonding experience that boosts everyone's confidence. Whether young or "young at heart", newbie or seasoned marathoner, every runner begins to see commonalities that enhance the overall team building experience.
